Śriman Nārāyanā
Šrīnidhiṁ
To that divine father, who is the finest expression of the ultimate Truth, I surrender at your feet.
Vandē Vāsudēvam.
Preservation is a term we commonly hear when discussing Hari. Apparently, a convenient division of labour has been orchestrated amongst the Trideva, in the Hindu Pantheon, where Brahma performs the creation, Hari the preservation, and Śiva the destruction. What is this Preservation? Is it the preservation of the Universe? But if so, why would the universe need to be preserved? Creation and Destruction are conscious processes that ought to be done, but what about Preservation? Is it a conscious process? If Preservation isn't done, would the Universe collapse?
I think of Preservation to be more detailed than this gross explanation. Of course, we must know that preservation isn't just sustenance; it is sustenance with nourishment. But even then, Is Hari just that? More pressingly, would Šrī marry this cosmic supervisor at first sight? Yes, Hari does preserve the universe, decidedly- but not so elementarily. The Universal Preservation isn't gross. It isn't relaxedly done from a far away place. Universal Preservation is done from within. From within every atom of us, from within every fragment of our soul, nourishing every minuscule particle of us and the world and the entire existence of every single animate or inanimate entity. Ironically, perhaps it is elementary?
Hari acts from within, in every way. As medicine in times of distress, as adrenaline in times when action is needed, as an analysis in times of internal conflict, as a consoling voice in times of loss, and as our conscience every single second. He leads us to his way, nudges us step by step, all from within. This is how he preserves, this is how he protects, this is how he loves. Each act of preservation that he does doesn't arrive out of duty or because labour has been divided and he has been assigned this job, he does this out of love. Śrihari is an embodiment of love. No wonder he preserves; if a job were to be made for true supreme love, it would be this.
With the blessings our beloved Guru, Śri Sathya Sai, we present our interpretation of Śriman Nārāyanā - the supreme and pristine expression of the Brahman.
Jupiter, of the Navagraha, possesses this exact quality of love and preservation, it is said. He is exalted benevolence personified. He fixes from within. We have here styled Śrihari to be highly jupiterian, not because we're sticking to a theme, but because we think this is how he really would wish to exist.
The Uttara Kālāmrita names Venus to be the wife of Jupiter, like how the venusian Šrī is the wife of Śrihari. The divine couple rule over this universe, sustain it, nourish it, and preserve it, with love.
